perhaps i boasted that a good story would be about a guy who ________, but it turns out that the only good story is about a guy who fails to write such a story.  i retract my statement.

while i am retracting statements, i would also like to retract the $4,200 in property damage i did to the marquis.  i would also like to retract the hurt feelings and the emotional scars caused by my form letter campaign.  i would also like to retract all speech acts and content-locative constructions i made over a ten-day period during the carnation revolution.

the wind was blowing at my back this morning.  i can't remember whether i was on foot or on a bicycle, but it felt as if i was moving faster.  maybe it happened both times.

i can only say that my time is wasted if someone was willing to buy it.  but nobody speaks up; sometimes they do not know how to speak, because they are things from the future, whence only presidents issue, or because of their natural timidity.  i always imagine myself explaining that what appears to be callous indifference i thought to be appropriate discretion.
