rain down
my career as a professional mechanic has gotten a jump start. the window rolled down, and it didn't come up. i tried to pull it back up, but it is 14F outside and my fingers quickly got numb. drove to a mechanic and he looked at me much like a cameroonian merchant. called a parts store, said "$491 installed" i turned around and drove home to figure things out. i prayed to ogun. after some gouging and prying, i revealed a couple of screw heads. i drove and bought screwdrivers. soon i had exposed a part that had hex heads. fortunately i had bought a socket wrench set (i only bought it because it was a great deal, never planned to use it), and soon i had pulled out frayed pieces of the part called "the window regulator" by now the window is wedged up with a coathanger and the door panel sort of hangs on the frame like a coat too big, and i have a few extra screws, and you can only lock the door from the outside, but i am a mechanic! if i find a viet or nigerian mechanic, maybe they can salvage my work.
